help with hs-6!!
I been looking for a warm load in 9mm. the powder I have is hs-6
my carry ammo is corbon +p 115gr and ranger 127+p+ I guess my question is does anyone have any load data that would come close to these factory loadings?? I have 115gr xtp and new starline brass and match primers the pistols are glock17L and ruger p89 both in 9mm.I know they use special powders at corbon. I just need a good load to practice with.hs-6 powder is a great powder for 9mm from what I have read. |

6.5gr under a 115 gives about 1100fps. 6.5 under a 124 gives about 1050. both are good pratice loads. I used HS6 alot befor switching to W231 for 9mm. 5.0gr under a 115 or 124 is a good load also. I love the win 115 hp for 9mm. I would say stay in this load range for pratice loads. Theres no need to wear your gun out with hot loads for paper. If you must hand load a hot 9mm, You simply can not beat 124 gold dot over 9.0gr HS7 @ 1250fps. This is a hot load not a pratice load and it is a speer book load. I have shot over 100rd with no problems, but would not pratice with it. Obviously start much lower and work up. BTW HS7 is being discontinued. Get it while you can. Longshot is also great with hot semi-auto loads.
good luck

watch out for max loads on the glock. Depending on the age of your gun, they don't like max loads. Extractor pens like to blow out of them...at least in the .40 cal...
