Best mags for a 1911
What is the best mag to use in a modern 1911? I don't care about hi-caps or anything, just the most reliable and the best. I've heard Wilson Combat 47D is an excellent one to use. What do you recommend?

Cobra Tripps. I ended up using their mags and converted all my Wilsons with their innerd conversion kits. No more worn slide stop shoulders and last shot hold open failures. Perfect function even with my "picky" 1911.

I've got about two dozen CMC PowerMags and they run perfectly, most are 8 round and a couple are 10 rounders. I like the CMC mags alot, they flat work and the price is very good for a premium magazine.
I've had some Wilson 47's, back about 6 or 8 years ago I bought the last of them, and shortly after I started using them I had problems. I had the same problem with magazines from the early 90's all the way into the late 90's. I put Wolf +10 mag springs in them and they ran perfectly after that, every single one of them ran great with a good spring in them. For what you pay you would think they would come with a good spring in them. I've not had the chance to handle or use the Tripp mags but Tripp brings a very impressive resume to the table, I would not be afraid to try them. I also use a couple dozen GI mags I have accumulated over the years, 7 rounders with the dimple on the follower. They work as well as anything else I have ever used. Cheap, durable and reliable, I like that in a mag!!! The only other mag I have much experience with are the MecGar 7 rounders, they work very well too. Just about any quality magazine will work well, and last the average guy years and years if not a lifetime. |

1911 40 caliber mags
I have Kimber Stainless Pro Carry II sweet gun, but finding mags has been a problem. Finally order the Tripp Cobra mags, problem solved, only good aftermarket 40 mag available. If you have 45 ACP the Wilson #47D work well
