Browning A-5 Dating

So other than the book by Shirley and Vanderlinden is there an effective means of running down the serial number on an A-5?

Gave into impulse and put a Belgium Browning A-5 on law away at my LGS.

In an effort to bide my time until my refund check comes in and I can claim my new prize, I'm going on a bit of a Browning research binge. (and day dreaming of wonderful pheasant hunting with a dog named Rex Kensington III or some such)

.

Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values has a comprehensive manufacturer/SN/year listing at the rear of the book, including Browning A-5's.

Browning also has a SN lookup on their website, but IMO it's incomplete & can sometimes be hard to decipher.
