What you have is a 3X magnifier that can be used behind an Eotech weapons sight to provide magnification. It can be used as a small monocular.

I have one but never use it. It adds a lot of weight and for very little gain.

In my experience, the Eotech holo sights work pretty well and are not really useful when you start adding optics to them.

You may have a very different need. They are pretty expensive and built like tanks but they are also cumbersome.

I don't know if it is an older model or not. Mine looks like that one.

The Eotech magnifiers are going for around $550. A quick detach base is going to run around $150.

I have no knowledge of the Strikefire sight.

The Eotech magnifiers are designed to work with the Eotech series of sights.

My first optical sight for a DPMS Panther is an Aimpoint and the magnifier behind it is an Aimpoint.

I mis-spoke when I said I have an Eotech magnifier. It is not. Mine is Aimpoint.

That being said, the unit seems identical to the Eotech magnifier.

I belive L3 is a conglomerate of companies and I am not sure of the relationship, if any, between L3, Eotech and Aimpoint.

I am not sure if any of this helps or not

This is the first gen... so the older one, with the flip to side mount.

I have a gen2 and I love it, with the newer switch to side mount.

The gen3 is or will be avaible very soon.

$300 USD for a 3x magnifier like that is a decent deal.

They are useful if you have a rifle set up for CQB with a red dot or holosight but you may also want to use it at longer ranges. I have a rifle with an Aimpoint CompM4 and the Aimpoint magnifier... they together aren't as good as something like an ACOG or telescopic sight for long range precision, but the magnifier adds some flexibility to a rifle otherwise intended for closer ranges.

Mixing brands between the optic and magnifier is fine- the only thing you will need to make sure of is that the height is close enough for the magnifier to be magnifying the appropriate part of the optic's field of view.

Not sure if it will work on your vortex or not. Vortex does market a 2x magnifier for use with the strikefire.

Forgive me for being nosey, but are you in the US military? If so thanks for serving and are you allowed to have your PW outside of base.
