Lee Auto Disk Powder Measure..Yes or No?
Okay, I'm about to place an order for the Lee anniversery kit w/ the single stage press.
One of the questions I have is: Is it possible to use the Auto Disk Powder Measure with a single stage press? This thing just runs through the 'powder through expanding die' right, or is it meant to attach to something else on a turret press as well? On the other hand, the kit comes with another basic powder measure, should I just use that along with a funnel instead of spending the $20.00 on the one that runs throught the expanding die? BTW I'll only be reloading about 100 rds of 40 S&W at a time....for now |

Lee Auto-Disk mounts on Lee's powder-through die, and dispenses powder as the brass pushes up into the die. Will work just fine on any press, including single stage.
If you use a single-stage press, Auto Disk will not provide much of an advantage over a regular measure. Since you shoot a 40, get a progressive press. Will pay for itself in the first 2000 rounds. LT |

I use Auto Disk with my Lee press, it only works with Lee expender dies, but you can use any press... it works well - dumps powder as you flare/expand the case.

I guess I'm just wondering if it's gonna be a waste of money since I'm not going to be doing any mass reloading....just some small quantities at a time.
Thanks for the replies guys. |

I'd say it's worth it
it will still save you time...it's fairly cheap anyways.

yes it will really save you time.
Picture this I have a lee 1000 set up for 223 which has been working great. I also have a lee Classic which I have been using for assorted tasks. I decided to start loading for my 40 and bought a set of dies that I could use one at a time on the single stage. well after hand measuring about 10 rounds worth of powder on my lee scale. the lightbulb went off... I then unscrewed the pro auto disk from my Lee 1000 mounted it on the single stage and BAM!. instant productivity.. I loaded 500 rounds on the single stage today in a couple hours. |

The perfect powder measure will come with the kit you are going to buy. It won't be any faster to use the pro auto on the single stage. I would save the money or start with the classic turret.

I know it comes witht he perfect powder measure, but it won't work through the 'powder through expanding die'.....only the pro will (according to Lee).
I'm pretty sure now that I'll just use whats in the kit for now....I'll bet that I will upgrade sooner or later anyways. |

You will not regret buying the disc if you decide too . It's a great tool and is really a time saver .Most of Lee's stuff works good .I don't know which press comes with the kit you are buying but I would make sure it's the "iron" one . It's worth the difference .

Lee Auto-disk
Yes!
I screw the powder through the die into my Rock Chucker, then the Auto Disk powder measure into that. You may have a powder over flow at the top. I just sweep it off. |
