Sons Of Guns -Discovery TV

Never seen this show... Any comments on it?

Stephanie Hayden, 25, is known as the brains behind the "Sons of Guns" operation. Her weapon of choice? The Supressed AK-47

We've had several threads on Sons of Guns over the past year or more that it's been on TV.

You can retrieve them either with the search here, or using Google to search the site.

I enjoy watching it. It's not really educational but it is entertaining and I like the people on it. Stephanie is pretty cool and Will is terrific. Just a down to earth here's the way it is sort of guy.

Too much to type on phone, don't know if it was covered in other posts but will and Stephanie lost their mfg lic after a bad ATF audit (couldn't account for multiple NFA weapons) they put (drawing a blank) the tattooed guy in charge of the shop for legal purposes. IIRC this all went down when the were in talks with discovery. The tattooed guy has since left the show and they have two other people legally in charge of the business.

Drama drama drama lol.

PS if you've been following the show I think wills treatment of their only true gunsmith and how he's favoring the twerp (whom I used to like until he got too big for his britches) is very unprofessional.

MidwayUSA's Wednesday Night at the range programs are better in my opinion.

Not worth watching in my opinion. If I want drama I can watch Days of our Lives. Most of the stuff they build is sheer nonsense that most people wouldn't have the money for or wouldn't waste it on if they did.

Amen brother! ( to midway usa's programs)I liked it until the drama. And when Will starts stating incorrect info about his "builds" nevertherless, its a decent show, and ill probly toon in for the next season.

I really hoped that American guns would take off. They were people that know what they are talking about. Also, they made some reall nice guns, and were down to earth. Guess thats why they cancled the show. We'll see, hope it comes back for season 2!

I agree.

Plus I think I'm a much better man for Stephanie. lol She's not super hot, but the way she talks about guns makes me go retarded.

Craig Stuart...

Sir, and I say that with nothing but respect for you on this forum. What channel is this show broadcast on?

NIts usually pretty over the top crazy stuff they buikd, like the water.cooled.duel M16s on a boat mount. Why would you not water cool a csw or a belt fed 249? Just made no sense to me. I loved american guns, just saw it for the first time a couple weeks ago. Didnt know it was cancelled, that to bad.

Stephanie and her Dad, Will, had to surrender their FFL's in '09 due to missing firearms at the time of a BATF audit. Vince Buckles became the FFL of record for RJF, then got fed up and quit the end of last season.

Vince has since started a new venture; and Hayden is being sued for allegedly ripping off the plaintiff by transferring assets to "another" Red Jacket entity- there are several...

The show is reality TV, there is very little useful information for genuine gun enthusiasts. They repeatedly "invent" firearms and concepts that have been done before...and take credit for them.

Just google search around for the dirt...

I haven't seen a reality show that was close to reality

Don't think I'll be watching any time soon!

Of the two, I like "American Guns" much better - seems to be more informative and some interesting stuff goes on. Plus I like seeing how pretty Colorado is.

Have you ever noticed on "Sons of Guns" how everything they do is either based on an AK or an MG42? Its like "lets see how we can make X (starting from an AK)" or "lets put this MG42 into some application...."
I liked the S2 finale where they basically, if I understand correctly, turned an AK into an AR for sale to military contractors. Why not just sell an AK, I don't know....

It was just a piston driven AR... that was about the end of the similarity.

I watched an episode where they were restoring a Japanese Carcano and they only had one round to test fire it with. They kept on stressing how rare the round was and impossible to find. I went online and midway had them for 19.95 a box, in stock ready to ship.

Poor show find it boring and somewhat sad to portray gun owners in that manner.

I agree but, I think it is probably geared toward non gun owners who don't know any better.
Top Shot is another one I can't stand. If it were really about the best shot, they wouldn't have "voting off" of team members. It would be a simple process of elimination. Everyone gets the same shot, if you miss go home. I guess that wouldn't make for good television or something. Everyone wants the drama apparently.

Sons of Guns is about as.................I was going to state how I really feel, but sometimes when you can't say anything nice you should keep your mouth shut.....so that's what I will do here.

I agree that the top shot show is more about luck than being the "top" shot. My wife and I watch sons of guns she likes the people and I like any show with guns in it. I wonder if they will be back next season? Anyone know?

I prefer the other show...from the Gunsmoke Shop...but they do stupid stuff for TV as well...

The whole "Pink 1911" episode...was so silly...they were all acting like they never saw or heard of a pink gun before...
all the guys were against it...which was even sadder....

Pink Guns = more sales to women.
More sales to Women = less women kvetching about their guy going to the range...
More sales to Women = MORE FREEKIN MONEY IN YOUR GUNSHOP from sales of guns & accessories!!
More sales to Women = more CCW classes at $180 a pop...DUH!!
More sales to Women = a better & safer world.

So to those who are against pink guns & pink accessories...ya might wanna rethink that position.

Um.. Duh. Pink is the new black. Who wants to stare down the barrel of a pink gun, or any gun for that matter. But a pink gun... Sure don't want to tell me friends I got shot by a pink gun.
On the suns of guns part... ANNOYING TO SAY THE LEAST.
