Lever Evolution bullets

This seems to be a winner for the good old 30/30. Does anyone know if Hornady has any plans to release this bullet as non-loaded bulk rounds so we can reload it? Maybe it's out there already and I just haven't seen it.

Thanks.

No it's not a winner for the old 30/30. It's a marketing gimmick to sucker people into buying their product. The fact is you have always been able to stuff any bullet into a 30/30 as long as it would cycle through the action as long as you restricted yourself to two rounds, one in the chamber and one in the magazine. Or you could even have one in the chmaber and one in the front of the magazine with flat points sitting behind it.

The flat nosed bullets are the best choice for brush or woods, that is one of the reasons the 30/30 has held on as long as it has. If a spitzer type bullet would have made that much of a difference the tube magazines would died a long time ago.

Glad you felt free to share your OPINION, Rimrod, but I'd appreciate it if you would include in your commentary an actual answer to the question I posed.

Sorry about that cobra81,

No they aren't and it will depend on demand.

Interest among reloaders will dictate your answer...
Reloaders are unlikely to get very interested in the 30-30...
Regardless of the LeveRevolution

It adds about 150 yards of effective accuracy and reach, over the traditional 30-30 Flatnose...

But I say, if that's what you want... get a 30-06 in the Browning BLR and have the best of both worlds...

I've got a .30-06 and a .30/30. I like them both. I've just not been able to get the kind of accuracy I want from various bullets in the .30/30. I know it's not supposed to be a tack-driver, but still I try to get the most accuracy I can from any weapon I own. I just happen to especially enjoy shooting the lever gun.

If this is true, it adds a whole new dimension to the .30/30.
I called Hornady and their response was that all the soft-tip bullets will be used to fill production orders for the loaded ammo until supply catches up with demand, probably some time in 2007.

The FAQ section of Hornady's site now says no. Earlier in the year the answer was that they planned to provide the bullets as componets, but they changed the answer because demand for the loaded rounds was maxing them out.

I think the bullets are good for the 30-30, and make it a legit 200+ yard round. Good for the 35 Rem also.....but they would be even better for the 307 and 356 Win. Im hoping both those rounds find their way back into production rifles.

I'll definitely buy some when they become available. The 30-30 needs all the help it can get for any kind of distance shooting. Obviously there are far better distance cartridges but none can match the fun and nostalgia of my old 94.
