i would like to know of any info about one of these, as i was thinking about buying one of the parts kits, and the receiver tubes with the bonded on templates, and just keeping them together. is this legal, or would that have to be stored seperately?also, what would it take to machine a receiver tube in the first place? a hacksaw, drill, and steady hand? or more?

If you complete that tube, you will then be in possession of an illegally manufactured, unregistered machinegun. That is a Federal felony and guaranteed prison time whether you have any other parts or not.

BATF is somewhat vague on this.

CATCO has sold a lot of the bonded on template tubes for STEN guns, and they include a BATF letter that says that the tube is legal, but possession of the tube and a parts kit MAY constitute either "constructive possession" or "conspiracy to construct" a machine gun (I don't recall the exact wording, but it is something like that).

Proceed with caution.
