Different recoil springs for +P?
Just wondering what the party line is on changing out recoil springs in, say, 9mm pistols for shooting +P. I want to keep shooting inexpensive FMJ at the range but I don't know if I can then carry +P reliably.

On my Beretta, I change out springs for +p. The stock springs are kind of light.
My Kahr is rated for +p ammo, so not on that one. In general, yes. |

Im picking up a G19 and am planning on using +P for personal defense and was wondering also if I should go with a Wolff spring instead of the factory one. Any inputs on this?

Shmackey,
The P7 is designed to shoot +P+ ammo with the original springs. If you ever have a spring break, I recommend you replace it with an original HK spring. Regards, George In sunny Arizona |

My S&W 439 came with a 14 pound spring, it now wears a 16 pounder for +P loads. It will function with standard pressure loads as well, but the brass lands about one or two feet from the gun and the slide feels like it cycles a little slow.

George,
I'd second your advise, but a P7 ?? where did that come from? Pardon my saying, but your aim sucks

The Wilson spring kit for my BHP came with three springs: standard, light (for target loads) and heavy for +P. So, they obviously think it's important to adjust your recoil spring to the load. I would agree.

New_comer,
P7? Shmackey did not mention a firearm. I just gave Shmackey the benefit of the doubt! USPs have good qualities but you might give the P7 a try. Regards, George In sunny Arizona |
