Beretta Skeet Choke
I've been looking for a shotgun recently, and I came across a used Beretta semi-auto skeet gun, with a fixed skeet choke. As I was wanted to try 3 gun(if I like it I would get a dedicated shotgun for it) would it be possible/ok to run a couple matches worth of slugs through it?

Slugs will be okay in a fixed Skeet choke; however, the gas works may not like the hot loads, it's anticipating target loads.

Good to know, I'll have to pick up some slugs and see what it likes, if anything. I'd like to make it a dedicated clay shooting gun, but if I don't find something else before the next 3 gun match it will get pressed into service for that, assuming it will shoot slugs reliably.

Unless its an Extrema or an A 400 it wont accept a mag tube extension. That will put you at a serious disadvantage in 3 gun. You will also want more choke than skeet.
A Remington 1100 is a good gun to start 3 gun with. Technology has passed it buy , but compared to most other popular 3 gun shotguns, it is inexpensive and accessories are cheap and readily available. If learn how to properly maintain it and which parts are prone to fail and it will give you good service. |

It's a 303, but optimal isn't a concern for me. I had been looking for something like it(the 303), when I decided I also wanted to try 3-gun. If I can find a deal on a 870 or a nova, then I'll probably pick it up before the next match. Otherwise, I'll use what I've got to see if I like 3-gun.

The 303 is one of those discontinued "sleeper" models A gun writer friend of mine calls it the greatest semi he has ever used - and he was an Olympic Skeet candidate for the US - One of the softest shooting gas guns.
Even if it doesn't work out for 3-gun, it will perform admirably in other ways |
