Best and cheapest source for bullets.
I usually load lead however my Ruger Blackhawk in 9mm says not to shot lead as they will get sliced due to expansion and therefore to shot metal plated. Around here, buying fmj would cost me as much to buy ammo at wal-mart. So, anybody got good prices somewhere?......................ck

Best And Cheapest Are Mutually Exclusive In Most Everything.
Kindly explain your comments on " not to shot lead as they will get sliced due to expansion and therefore to shot metal plated ".

From the Ruger Instruction manual........."use only metal jacketed bullets in 9mm. when a lead bullet is fired, its base expands and a ring of lead is shaved off and deposited in the shoulder area of the chamber. A build-up of lead rings can prevent proper chambering of cartridges because 9mm mouths seat on the chamber shoulders................"

A good cleaning will solve most issues with any kind of ammo, but the most economical is Wally World WWB for about 11.xx per 100!

Clayfish:
I agree Berrys is a great source... but if you buy from them directly with at least a $25 order, they charge no shipping. 1000 pieces at 124gr RN for $48.99 with no additional shipping. That being said, I don't reload for my 9mm. I just pay the $11/100 at walmart. I may reconsider that tactic, however, if walmart stops selling ammo. I just don't see how 50rds of 9mm can sell for $8-$9, and 50rds of 45acp can sell for $11 at the gunshop. Should be around $6-$7 per 50 for 9mm, IMO. I have at least 1000 pieces of 9mm brass set aside for when/if it is time to reload for it and suitable powder and primers, just need some dies and an order of bullets. |
