How many shots to put down a BG?

How many shots on average have to shot to eliminate the BG?

What caliber?

I've never shot anyone. Takes one to put down a deer though. If I did shoot someone I can't imagine I wouldn't empty my clip on them or attempt to during the adrenaline rush.

This could be a short lived thread...

If it will be a shot lived thread then it will be very sad!

This is because in the poll I intend to determine how many shots is it really necessary to bring down a BG.

This also will explain the ongiong relentless stopping power and 9v45 debate.

I never had to use more than 1, and it was always 9 in SD.

Only recently I switched to 45 with G21.

"never" implies more than 1 event. More than 1 event means you have FAR more experience than 99.99% of the people to whom you have directed this poll. I'm not trying to be a jerk. Most of us have 0 experience in actual SD shootings. Your sample size will be far too small to be meaningful, especially considering that some people will no doubt say "10 or more" just because they think it's funny.

It's a question without an answer. You won't know until it happens.

i use a mosin nagant, the shockwaves from my ammo can down multiple bad guys. when used against a squad of 4 thats .25 shots per bad guy, or .33 shots for a group of three. it also helps it has a 12 mile range

Two thoughts...

It is impossible to resolve the 9mm vs. .45 ACP debate. If you don't believe me just do a little searching on this and other forums. It has been argued every which way but loose. It will continue to be argued until the literal end of time. And the only reason it will cease to be argued at that point is that we will finally all realize that there is no answer and it was pointless anyway. I have both. I like both. Either will git 'er done.

You mention that you "never had to use more than 1". Uh, just how many people have you shot? I'm just curious... I have thankfully never had to shoot anyone and I sincerely hope to never have to.

i was talking to a chicago policeman this week and he told me of an incident where he fired four times with a 9mm through a wind shield striking the BG with all rounds in the center of his chest. the BG was still alive.

Closed for pure silliness. You'll not get any meaningful results this way.
