Also, a Sterling SMG(if they are still being produced.)
One of the local shops is building an indoor range. They are buying some class III to have for on-site rental. They will also be providing escorted, off-premises arrangements, ostensibly for wealthy tourists. I asked about those two guns, and was told that they are not amongst the order that was decided on. He said that if I wished to pay for one, they would charge me only the dealer's cost, and it would be available for me to shoot for free anytime that I wished. Of course, they would be able to rent it out for range use also. I have no clue about real-world LE pricing on these. If it's equivalent to a quality pistol, it may be something that I would entertain. Can anyone give me an idea? |

Hate to put your hopes down, but it ain't going to happen. Only way the dealer can obtain the gun is as a HK law enforcement stocking dealer ($10K to get into the game and that is on top of the $8K civilian order.) and the dealer will need to obtain a LE request for the gun or a demo. Heckler & Kosh will most likely demand to do the demo directly and not hand over the "sample". Only way the dealer can obtain the "sample" is if the police chief quest that the dealer only do the demo and that the "sample" gun be available to their disposal or there will be no procurement. And only then will the dealer be sold the sample MP5. Dealer has to be good friends with the PD and be willing to play hardball with HK.
Cost is just under $1K for a MP5. Robert [Edited by Robert the41MagFan on 04-14-2001 at 12:39 AM] |

2200 Swiss Francs. Of course, without paperwork. Paperwork is another
150 CHF. All in all 1400 US-$. Of course, without fancy accessories. |

Aren't those prices disgusting! And to think that a LE only MP-5 cost less than a HK 40 Expert. Supply and demand I guess.
