Found a Dragonov at a sale.
But didn't have the $1000. It was at a liquidation sale. Two mags, complete with original scope and tripod. Not sure but the last time I checked, $1000 for a Dragonov is insanely cheap. Thought abouy trading my unrestored '57 Caddy.for it.

Sure it was an actual Dragunov and not a PSL?

Are you sure it wasn't a PSL?
That's their price range.

The scope sure looked liked a real original scope. I did some searching online for the PSL rifle. None of those seem to have the Dragonov style scope

Look at the receiver markings and see what it says. That scope could go on many types of rifles.

PSL features:
Dragunovs are a good deal more valuable than PSLs; $1,000 is a great deal for the former, but NOT for the latter, they usually trade in the $800 neighborhood. Be aware, however, that a LOT of people do not know the difference between the two rifles!

Looks like a Tiger Dragonov. They were a sporting configured version for sale in the US. They went for about $700 back then but are worth much more now. Someone may be able to give you a better guess as to value.

Wow yeah that looks right
Im not sure if it could be a parts kit gun, but look at the receiver markings and see if its says Tigr on it and if it has import information. If so and its only $1000, buy it. |

Ditto...
If that's a Tigr, with no problems for a grand, it's a STEAL. Looks mostly correct from pics I've seen, except for the thumbhole stock: http://www.dragunov.net/tiger.html |

I have to say, you are a lucky guy. Those sell for like at least $3000 usually, If you can even find one. Maybe I will have to start going to gun shows again haha.

Does he have any other stuff for sale also? I think the rifle originally had a poly stock set, you might want to see if he has that too. The wood one is original, but it would be nice to have both if you can.

;)
There is or was one of the mid 1980's Norinco rifles with the box and full kit on one of the auction boards a year ago the was up to $5K with a week to go. The Tiger was a post '89 import neutered to pass the sporting test. Still not a bad deal today to get the short tappet gas system. Wish I had the $1800 in '85 for the Norinco. That was big $ for me back then.
Cheers ..MJ..

I didn't know these were 7.62X54, thats cool, thought they were 7.72X39 like the AK 47. I've wanted one of these for over 20 years. Never even seen one in real life before.
