SP primer comparison

Been using CCI primers for years now. With the present situation, they seem to be the most difficult to find.

I've recently found a reliable source for Federal and Winchester, and would like to know how others feel about purchasing or waiting for the CCI's.
Mainly used for 9 mm, 40 S&W and 38/357's.

I've used only winchester in those calibers with excellent results.

CCI primers are difficult to get around here at the best of times, let alone now... if I'm lucky, I can get 100-200 at a time, which is only slightly better than having none at all.

Winchester primers are more plentiful (that being a relative term), I'm able to pick them up by the case, though their price has steadily increased over the past few months.

I've loaded around 2500 rounds of 9mm using Winchester small pistol primers, and every single one of them went bang. I'm happy using Winchester, but, as always, YMMV.

My $0.02 (with the exchange rate, only about 1.6 cents American...

). I'd say, if you need primers and Winchesters are available... scoop 'em up!

If your .357's are being loaded with H110 or Winchester 296, you will want a magnum primer. The others should be fine with standard primers. Winchester works fine. I've used mostly Federal for the last 20 years with no problems there, either.

I use WSPM (magnum) primers for everything. 9 minor and major, 40
minor and major, 38 spl, 38 S&W, 32 ACP, 357 magnum. Only problem
is with the 38 S&W (S&W mdl 32) snubbie. It needs just a bit more
hammer spring--has an occasional light hit. I'll fix it one of these days.

WSPM's are often easier to find than WSP's--if you see a pile of them
don't hesitate!

I do use Federals in my 625---it isn't reliable with anything else.
