Maybe someone here can help me with some info. A friend of mine gave me a gun they wanted to get out of the house. It's made by the Hawes Firearms Co. in L.A. Ca. This is a very tiny .25 cal semi auto. The gun is in serious need of cleaning so I don't even know if it works. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

The only thing I can find on Hawes, is They were previously mfg'd by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in Eckemforde Germany. They were previously imported by Hawes Firearms in Van Nuys CA. These were single action revolvers and nothing is mentioned about SA pistols. Pricing isn't much, CF Ctg.$130.00-$250.00 with rimfire $60.00 to $140.00.

You may want to contact the importer, as most of the information I have is for revolvers.

Thanks for the help. At least it gives me someplace to start. it does say on the side of the gun, Made in Germany. But only the hawes name.

I happened accross the same firearm, hawes firearms co. Cal .25 Semi-Auto.

It came from my girlfriends father who served time in WWII. We believe he got it from Military. Unfortunately he has alzheimers and we found it on him loaded one day. We took it, hid it at my house, and put one of those gun locks on it. We dont want to ask him about because he may want it back.

Im a mild gun enthiast and prefer rifles. No idea where to look to find out about it.

Hawes was a major importer during the 50s and 60s. Their single action type firearms came from Germany (JP Sauer). Their little inexpensive .25 however was Italian made by Galisi. It was sold under several models numbers and names, the most common was the Courier and Model 50 and 504-505. And no, unless your girlfirend's fathers could time travel, he didn't pick up a Hawes marked pistol in WW II ( Smile).

What parts will fit this gun? I'm looking at Numrich site & It Looks like Colt Single Action Army/New Frontier parts might match.

Added information since my posting of 2/16/06. J P Sauer did produce a small .25 automatic for Hawes. They are clearly marked " Made in West Germany ". I don't think they imported a large amount. I've only seen one. 45love, ask Numrich what parts will fit. You can call them or use their parts forum. Their parts forum is left of the Public forum. Since my first posting on these pistols I've run into more info about them. They also had a Italian .25 for import.

In 1967 or 68 I bought a Hawes 44 mag SA. I think I paid $65 or $70 for it. I still have it. I shoots well. I havn't shot it for a few years. It just has it's spot in the safe.

please let me know.
All I have found out in the past 3 hours is I can't find a clip.
my old man was given a gun that belonged to his dad,
In the 70's his mom took the clip and threw it in the river...
As a result of a bar fight.
He and I only found out today who the manufactures were.
We also found out who imported it.
It is dire need of being cleaned!!!
and this gun is a .25 caliber pistol as well,
the numbers are scratched deep.
So I can't quite make them out....
And all I can find is a shield mark with the number 68,
Any ideas?????

I also have one fo the little hawes .25s that I carry regularly. it's finicky about ammunition but functions well enough that i am comfortable with it. I had a hard time figuring out how to disassemble it for cleaning, but it is really easy once you know how. You simply pull the trigger to release the pressure on the plunger, then use a small screwdriver to depress the rim around the plunger. you can then lift the rear fo the slide and disassemble. Be careful not to let the spring fly

The Gun Parts Corporation lists parts for the Western Marshal. Look under Hawes. I bought parts a while back for the .44 model.

They were also the first importer of the JP SAUER & SONS (PreSIG-Sauer) P-220 with the Euro mag release on the bottom of the mag well. Pre-browning BDA...some in 45acp and a very few in 38 Super.

I bought a Hawes Western Marshal 357 with a six inch barrel back in the late 60's. Usd to go deer hunting with it. Shoots good and has held up well over the years. I could not have paid much for it then as funds were tight.

It's always fun to resurrect an old "Zombie" thread.
Makes one wonder where the folks are now.
I, too, had a couple of Hawes six guns, way back.
Both were .44M.
I liked shooting them as well as anything.
They were pretty good copies of the Colt Peacemaker.
Inexpensive, too.
Wish I still had them.

Since it's resurrected, the Hawes .25 was NOT made by Galesi.
They were die-cast zinc guns that have a lot in common with Ravens.

You're probably right Bill, not owning one I can't confirm who made the Hawes .25 ( Courier ), however it is listed in both the Pistols of the world and the SC of F as being made by Rino Galesi ( Rigarmi ).

The Std. Cat. of Firearms lists Galesi as the manufacturer.

Perhaps Hawes did import Galesis. I have never seen one.
What I HAVE seen is a Raven-like (smaller) gun that was probably made by Reck in Germany. They were zinc junk.
