gen 5 Glock 23 barrel compatibility

I just picked up one of the new Gen 5 Glock 23's. I was surprised to find that Glock has made the slide slightly wider on the new 40 cal pistols. This means I will have to find a new holster.

I would like to get conversion barrels so I can shoot .357 sig and 9mm in it. But I am unable to figure out if the gen 5 barrels are the same as the gen 4. I know they changed the barrels in the gen 5 17 and 34.

I would ask both Glock and the barrel vendor you’re interested in. The vendors are generally pretty forthcoming.

Received an answer from Glock this morning.

There have been changes to the Gen 5 that would make it so we cannot recommend swapping with a Gen 4
So there you have it. I guess I will have to wait for barrel manufacturers to copy the Gen 5's to make caliber conversions.

That was my suspicion, but it's good to know for sure. Thanks for sharing that info.
