I'm happy you love your Colt carbine in 9mm, though it seems like an odd response to the question of "What is your do it all pistol" in the General Handgun Forum.

Can my "do all pistol" be my Fabarms L4s 12 gauge? No?

I don't have a do it all pistol. I have pistols for different uses. A Glock that stays by my bed, another glock that I carry sometimes. a P365 that I carry more often. A Redhawk that I carry in the woods. A S&W 627 that I bought because I had a dream that i had one then saw one for sale the very next day in the LGS. And my CZ TS2 that I compete with.

If we are considering Colt Carbines as do it all pistols, I guess mine would be my Benelli M4

I guess I am different than most folks, my favorite go to pistol, is my UBERTI EL PATRON, (copy of COLT SAA) 45 colt. Will take down just about any critter, 2 legged or 4 legged walking, at least in the lower 48, I grew up carrying single action pistols and am comfortable with them. But if I had to take an auto, would be either my Colt 1911 38 super, or SDS (TISAS) DUTY 1911 45 ACP

In all honesty my 642 serves most roles. Every time I've needed a handgun it has served the purpose. I have used it to dispatch rattlesnakes, finish a wild pig and a deer, shoot armadillos. I shoot the gun quite a bit and there isnt much safe from contact to 25-35 yards the size of an armadillo.

When I need more and I had to pick one it would be my 26. I can throw my 642 in my pocket and my 26 AIWB and feel pretty darn comfortable with anything that may come my way.

I've sold my collection a few years ago due to deteriorating health, but I've improve enough to go back to active police duty. Even so, I have no desire to grow a collection. So, my do-it-all now is my daily carry SIG P365 XL, which has been my favorite all-time handgun.

The SIG P354 XL fits my smallish hand perfectly, is reasonably concealable, has a good trigger, has a slight faster muzzle velocity over shorter barrel 9mm pistols, it has a pretty good sized capacity, it is reliable, and I actually like the looks of it. It just does it for me.

for 25+ years i lived and worked in a series of anti-2a locales. my one and only firearm was a steel, not alloy, taurus 85 38sp snubbie revolver with pachmayr grips. my only ammo was 158gr ball. it served me well and directly save my bacon once when i got stuck in an urban riot. after early retirement my inventory substantially increased, but i still could get-by with a 38sp revolver if need be.

all that said a 22lr something is another one-and-done handgun option, especially for the infirm or non-gunners. for me this rimfire option would be a ruger sr22 semiauto pistol. loaded with good (i.e. cci) ammo it’s perfectly reliable. practice is fun, cheap and easy. on some road trips, when plinking has been on the menu, it has been my only firearm.

I just wanted to change my reply to what it has been.

Walther Q4 SF is my main piece, now.

In my case my BUL Commander in .38 super is it. In a SHTF scenario my hi cap RIA Commander in .40 is next. Of course a .44 mag or other big boomer revolver would be a second on my belt also :-)

The first one

Back in 2007 when I escaped from Commiefornia I promptly went to the fun store and bought a Glock 19.
Still my favorite. Can't beat a G19 for reliability and firepower.

My carry pistol, home defense pistol and the one I use in my clubs PPC competition is a CZ 75D PCR. Fairly light weight (28 oz empty) 3.8" barrel & fairly thin for a double stack pistol. Stone cold reliable and more accurate than I am. Certainly not the best in any area, (target pistol, deep concealment pistol, etc, but it is very good in the areas that matter.)
I have many other pistols & revolvers but the CZ is the go to one for me.
After my own heart.

Do it all? A 357 magnum Dan Wesson Pistol Pack with 2.5, 4, 6, and 8” barrels. Got a scope for the 8”, not much it can not do.

These days, there is no one.

Glock 42 .380ACP
Sig SP2022 9mm
Colt Single Action Army .45LC

At one time I thought so, maybe the late 70s, 80s, 90s, and the early 00s.

Now, being much older there is no "One."

Beware the man who only owns one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Well, that probably doesn't apply to any of us, or anyone we know; we mostly own several or even many guns.

If I were limited to only one, it would be my Glock 26 because I can almost conceal it in a pocket and I shoot it very well. And I like 9mm, in the right gun.

I'd rather have my Glock 17, but here on the tropical beaches we don't wear cover garments, or holsters or belts, or socks, and open carry is generally illegal.

I often carry just my Kel-Tec P32, and I'm very often the only one who didn't leave his gun at home or in his car.
Anyway, it beats a NAA Mini-revolver, like a brick thru a plate glass window.
