Handgun safes
Looking for a handgun safe for a firearm. Been doing some looking around and found these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009OG...sr=8-2&pi=SL75 Does anybody have any experience with this one? I have heard a lot of bad things concerning battery operated gun safes. |

I don't know about that particular safe but the locking mechanism looks a lot like the Simplex type push buttons. I'm a big fan of the Simplex type locks: no batteries to replace, no electricity to fail, no keys to lose, can be operated in the dark. I've got one and I'm quite satisfied with it.

I have a different brand of one of these. Got mine for like $79 on sale at Bass Pro.

Handgun safe
I recommend the FAS1. I have purchased three of them (for myself and family members) and using the push-buttons is easy and reliable.

I have the Fort Knox pistol safe and am very happy with it. It has a simplex lock which I can open very quickly. I don't like the idea of relying on batteries or keeping track of keys. Someone with enough time could download a list of all the combination codes but I figure no small pistol safe is impenetrable and this seems like the best option to me. Oh and I also fit 4 pistols in it and I could probably get one or 2 more small ones in there.

I'm thinking about getting a safe, but, it is my understanding that a gun should not be stored in a closed container. Do these safes have vents or somehow have air circulation?

After much study, I just ordered a FAS1 (as mentioned above) yesterday. It will be interesting to see if it works out. I seemed to be the best I could find on the net.
