308 loads for Remington ADL
I just purchased another Remington 700 in 308 24" standard barrel not heavy barrel. It has the Synethic stock. I am new to 308 and would like to know some good loads for it. I am just shooting now might hunt hogs or deer later. This gun has a 1-10 twist. I would like different loads to try to see what is the most accurate.
Thanks for any help roc1 |

Man I just did a load development for my Savage 10FP with 24" barrel in .308 Win.
I found an awesome load. 42.5 gr RL-15 168 gr Nolser CC or SMK FC 06 NATO Brass CCI 34 Primer OAL 2.82" Sub-MOA for sure. Works well in both my Savage 10FP and Rem 700PSS. Here is the 200 YD target (5.5" black). 10 rounds, one hole. I can provide velocity data when I get home if you want it. |

Ditto on Hammonje!
that is exactly the same load I use in my Rem 700 VSF 26'' barrel.
I use sierra 168gr match bullet with CCIbr primer, lapua brass, and get the same results at 200 yds. Can't rightly remember the velocity but I think it is 2600fps. It's AWESOME! |

Follow-up
If you have Imr 4064 on your shelf the same charge load produces similar results.

Thanks do the heavier bullets work better? Has anyone used a light bullet like a 110 gr Hornady? I use them in 06 and they are great Whitetail load.
Thanks again roc1 |

from 6mmbr site I used:
2850fps 45.3gr IMR 4064 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip 2.85in COL CCI primer I tried 46gr and it was very hot, hit 2913fps, and very accurate. I cut back to 45gr and accuracy was still good. 48gr is max in some load data for IMR 4064 and 150gr bullets. Also try Varget, or R15.

The first thing to do is get some good manuals. I always try to have one for the bullet maker I am using, and there are some good ones in general. Start at the min and work up watching for those presure signs as you go.

Try 168 Nosler B tips and 39.5 of imr 3031 you should get the same accuracy
this is about 2550fps no recoil at all. |

Here is the chrono data for the 42.0 and 42.5 gr RL-15 loads above. Both were very accurate with the nod to the 42.5 gr load.
42.0 2583 2604 2583 2548 2594 2588 2594 2569 2604 2609 HI 2609 LOW 2569 AVG 2590 ES 40 SD 12 42.5 2624 2640 2629 2624 2619 2635 2635 2635 2656 2650 HI 2656 LOW 2619 AVG 2634 ES 37 SD 11 I love data. Very low ES and SD for ammunition. Right in that 2600 FPS ballpark. Hope this helps. Last edited by Hammonje; February 12, 2010 at 09:42 PM. |
