Steel Shot Gun shells

I want to know will stell shot gun shells dammage my barrel on my mossberg 500. My dad told me it would becuase it is steel to steel But i thought well the buck shot is only passing threw it and it isnt realy slaming or pushing on it like a slug would. If you must know i am gonna be geting this stell shot in BB 3 inch magnums.

No,it will not damage modern gun barrels.The barrel is heat treated to a hardness that will not be adversly affected by steel shot.


P.S. just checked your link,I wouldn't shoot Wolf brand cartridges in any of my firearms.I have heard more complaints about various issues with that brand,I would just stick to domestic made ammunition.

Yeah from 223 to 7.62 i keep hearing bad things about them becuase they use steel and not brass i think there shotgun shells use brass though.

Make sure your choke is ok for steel. I know some choke are only good for lead!

Call Mossberg and ask if that model and choke is ok for steel shot. BTW the steel shot is in a plastic cup so the shot never touches the barrel or choke.
