Rifle ID, pls
I just saw a movie on Netflix called Wind River. What the heck was that rifle that the game warden had? Big caliber, massive barrel lever action. Bad ass!

Its a Marlin. Not sure of the caliber, .4-something.
 Check IMFDB (Internet Movie Firearm Database) if the info isn't there, it will be soon...

Marlin 1895 SBL 45-70. You can see him reloading for it and the bullets are 500 grainers.

Only problem with that is the 500 grainers won't cycle through a Marlin 1895.

They do in mine if I use Hornady LeverEvolution brass. It is trimmed to a shorter length.

How can you tell the bullet weight by just seeing it in a movie? Still likely a .45-70 as .444 Marlin blanks or DP cartridges would have to be made. .45-70 has been used in movies since before D.W. Griffith.
