Best powder for .300 WSM

Has anyone any suggestions of which powder recommended for the following:

Browning Xbolt .300 wsm
165 gr nosler accu-bond
Win. brass / Fed. primers

According to my Nosler book i should be realizing >3000 fps, but i'm actually seeing .30-06 speed (2850) with 67 gr of RL-19. I'm happy with the accuracy, better than sub-MOA - just not the speed. I'm thinking of trying RL-17. I'm new to reloading so PLEASE don't hesitate to educate me.

thx.

IMR4350 gives nice case fill and velocity.

Many of the medium-slower powders are well suited. I use H-4350 in my 300WSM. It's a good all around powder with a lot of data available. I also use it in many 30-06 loads & heavy bullet 243 loads. RL-17 should be fine too. I left mine at the mid-levels anyway, the 30-06+ range. My load still went through the B bear I took with my 180 grn partition.

I don't think there is one perfect powder choice. I do try to buy powders that cover a wider spectrum of loadings when possible, H-4350 does that.

R-17 and H-4350 are good powders and I'm using WLRM primers in the 300WSM and 270WSM. I got my first 300WSM/270WSM before R-17 but new 300WSM using R-17 good powder.

For top velocities and accuracy with 180gr I found none better than Ramshot Hunter.

With 165gr Hunter is also a good choice, but MRP is outstanding in both my 300 WSMs with 165gr Partitions. If you can find it, give it a try.

I worked up my loads with RL-19, before RL-17 was available, Hornady 165 gr IB, WLRM, Win brass, and using a few grains more than you, I'm getting sub MOA at 3,160 fps. My load is still below max, but I'm happy with the accuracy and velocity.

my remington xcr 300 wsm likes the nosler recomended load of H380 with the 165 gr accubond. A little less than .5 in at 100!! I use H380 in my 30-06 and my 22-250 too.

I wold say to check with Nostler's manual. Look for the weight of bullet you are using, and then look for what they list as the most acurate powder tested. For all of the rifle loads I have tested so far they were spot on, though with a couple I did have to tune a couple of tenths of a grain from thier most accurate load.
