Grayboe composite stock

I'm planning on a hunting bolt rifle built around a Rem 722 action that's currently a 6mm Remington. I've decided to rebarrel it in 257 Roberts and I want a conventional, lightweight, composite stock without a cheek piece. Also, I'd like to stay in the $300 +/- neighborhood. Can't swing a McMillan.

I'm looking at Grayboe's website, and it checks all the boxes, but I've never heard of them. Anyone have any experience with their stocks or can suggest another maker?

TIA

I have never used them, but they have a good reputation. Similar to Bell&Carlson in reputation. I find the cheaper brands often just have less sku’s, fewer inlets, little to no customization. Still good stocks I hear.

You might consider B&C too.

I've looked at them several times. Their Lightweight model keeps me peeking.

But from a manufacturers standpoint, they are missing out big time by only offering the Rem 700 and clone inletting!

I'm looking at the Outlander model for a sporter barrel profile. I'll give them a call before I order but I wonder if the forend is thicker than needed since they combine sporter/magnum together in the description. I'm not sure what that means. I'll report back after I talk to them.

More than likely it's a difference in the inletting for the barrel channel, not the outside forestock dimmension.
Magnum contour barrels being a little thicker than a "standard" sporter barrel.

I've never change stock on my 722. The floor plate is different on 722 vs 700 and not sure about magazine.

I'm only using the action on this build. The original barrel is toast, the scope is a yellowed Balvar 8 in an adjustable mount and the stock is just OK. I'll see if I can get $50 for it. Bottom metal will be BDL pattern. Haven't decided on the trigger yet but will probably go with a Jewel.
