Bought a Saiga-12 and converted it

Just did my first bit of "gunsmithing" converted my Saiga-12. Operation was a success, the patient performs well. Now im looking at some of my other guns and how i might "improve" upon them!

Nicely done... just keep in mind, AK pattern guns are easier to dink with than most.

However, you probably would be in a good position to build an AR-15.

Just curious: were the grip and trigger holes already cut? Is the trigger Tapco or something else.

I've done a Saiga rifle conversion and was wondering if the shotgun was more or less the same.

On mine they were. The actual work I put into converting mine was about 2 hours, and that included coating the receiver, barrel, gas tube, and receiver cover with Duracoat (not including the curing time).

From what I gather, converting the Saiga shotgun and rifle are nearly identical processes... the only difference is the bullet guide required with the rifle if you want to use AK mags.

Yeah the holes were already there, covered up by a plate under the front of the old trigger guard. Trigger group and pistol grip are Tapco.

So where did you get your parts for it? Looks like you replaced the front hand grip as well right?

How difficult was it to move the trigger forward? How long did it take you? What is your background as far as working with your hands?

I'm thinking about doing some stuff to my Saiga .223 and trying to get ideas and an idea of what to expect if I decide to move the trigger forward too. I've seen stocks that have a pistol grip but you don't have to love the trigger forward. Just not sure what I want to do.

How does the trigger feel compared to the original?
