Pyrodex Pellets - 100 or 150 gr.?

Gun is a Knight "Bighgorn" 50 cal. 26" barrel.
Bullet is a PowerBelt 348 gr. Copper Ballistic tip.
Primer is a Musket Cap.
Question is the charge. 100 gr. or 150 gr.
Which is recommended/which shoots better?

You are going to have to put in some range-time to determine this for yourself. We all do this for our own piece of mind and confidence. I will however, mention how I came up with my shot-strings. I like your choice of the Musket cap. If and when I use pellets and that isn't often, I shart out with one 50/50 then step up to one 50/50 and one 50/30. Then two of 50/50. I never go up to a three 50/50's.

Most of the time I shoot loose powder and my target load is 70 and my hunting load is around 90 to 95.

Be Safe !!!

Most of the guys I have talked to, including myself, get a pretty good group with up to 120 grains, at 100 yards, but any more than that, and the groups start to separate.
I do know of one guy that can actually shoot 150 grain loads, and still keep a good group at 100 yards, but he is the only one.
I suggest as Pahoo, start low and work your way up. Somewhere in the process your sabot will break down and you will loose accuracy, and you will know exactly what your rifle is capable of shooting accurately.
Most rifles will shoot 150 fairly accurate at 50 yards, but somewhere in between 50 and 100 they lose it.
