Installing a front sight
I am converting an old 20 ga bolt shotgun into a short range slug gun. It has an adjustable apeture site alread installed. Once I shorthen the barrel to 22 inches, I will need to add a new front sight.
Is there a guideline as to how high the front sight should be to start? Max range is 25 yards (I can't see beyond that.) Thanks Joe |

Best method is to make a "try sight".
To do this, simply take a section of wire and bend it into an "L" shape. Tape the wire to the top of the barrel near the muzzle and test fire the gun. Clip the wire off shorter until you get it on target. Measure the height of the wire above the barrel, then get a sight that height as a permanent sight. |

Thanks Joe |
