I own a Ruger 30.06 M77. Beautiful rifle. Never shot M700 .06', but its a Remington 700. You know it is great. I am acctually trying to get into a .308 LH M700 right now. Just looking to find one that suits me. Either way, they are both great rifles with great backgrounds. Good luck on your decision. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I have a Remington 700 BDL in 270 Win. I couldn't ask it to perform any better than it does. It regularly shoots 1/2" groups at 100yds (handloads) when I'm up to it. I can't give any input on the Ruger other than I know a few people that have them and they seem to be happy with them.

Ruger M77MkII is a nice gun. Mine shoots tight and I love the features.
Controlled round fee Three Position saftey Scope Rings Included Theyre a good gun and i wouldnt trade mine in .270 with the laminated stock and stainless barrel for any other rifle in that price range.

Both the Ruger and the Remington are great rifles. My personal preference lies in two different directions. The Remington is more "round feeling" when you carry it. The Ruger feels more squareish in my hands. This is nit picking. Its about like carrying a Winchester model 94 or a Marlin 336. They are both great guns, but "feel" different in the hand. If you like a long claw extractor, choose the model 77. If you don't care and want a more dainty rifle feel, pick the model 700. Either way,you will not be disapointed.

I think they are both very nice rifles. I really like the Rem 700 ADL deluxe better than the 700 BDL. But, in that price range I would look really hard at the CZ 550 with the fully adjustable trigger that also has the "set trigger" functionality. These triggers are awesome and they are very nice rifles. I would pick the CZ over either the mod 77 or the 700.

Go with the Ruger. I like the mounting system........bases are milled into the receiver. hpg

I would probably go with the Ruger. I like some of the features such as the scope mounting and they usually include the mounts which cost extra on the Rem. I also like the Ruger safety, I feel it is a lot more positive to LOCK the firing pin that to lock a trigger. Trigger locks can fail and allow the firing pin to move and set off a round. Whereas a firing pin lock won't allow that to happen. Remingtons seem to be slightly more accurate,, sometimes, but then Savages seem more accurate all the time. Your choice, get which ever "calls your name"
