Berger classic Hunter.

Hello all,

Getting ready to load up some Berger 140 grain classic Hunter in my 270 WSM.

Anywho, I know these bullets, (or so I have been told) they can be sensitive to distance they are seated from the lands. I generally for most bullets start .020-.030. where do you all find your best results?

These bullets are kinda expensive so I don't want to burn through 100 bullets to figure out the seating depth. I have a pretty accurate load with other 140 grain bullets. So I will probably start there. My "in the lands" measurement with this bullet is 2.881, and Mag length is 2.850, for reliable feeding. 2.850 leaves about .015 clearance in the mag. So that where I intend to start is 2.850 for COAL.

Just looking for insight

I've shot 95gr classic hunter in 243AI.

If you used Berger 270 140gr VLD, you might have problem with seating. I have shot those in my 270.

Kilo,
Should have no issues with their Classic Hunter line.
The Berger VLD Hunting can be finnicky.

I have never been able to get a Berger bullet to shoot out of any thing I have ever owned, an I tried hard !!!!!

I've only had one issue, with one rifle.
My Mauser in 284 Win with the 140gr VLD.
Super long throat. Can't load long enough.
Shoots everything else well.

For some unknown reason, try as i might, my Savages didn't like the regular Accubond. Ballistic Tip, no problem. Shoot the ABLR well also. Just couldn't get the Accubond to group worth a tinkers darn.

The pure target bullets are sensitive to seating. The Classic Hunters are a lot easier to load for. I've used 155 and 168 gr in my 308 and 30-06 with very good results. I don't do anything special with them.

Thanks all.

I loaded some up tonight to shoot tomorrow. These bullets definitely look like they have a shorter bearing surface than the Nosler BT, or Sierra GK. I hope they work well. been wanting to try them for awhile
