Husky screwdrivers........

Most gunsmith supply companies sell gunsmithing screwdrivers that are magnetic with interchangeable bits. Fine, except I find if I lay one down on my bench, screws or other small parts are dangling from the bit, or worse, just momentarily before dropping to the floor.

I've bought some Husky screwdrivers from Home Depot that I am beginning to like very much. They have interchangable bits that are held in place by a spring loaded ball detent, no magnet. And these bits are hollow ground to begin with, and are easily shaped with a Dremel toll to correct shape and width. And as an extra bonus, Chapman screwdriver bits work with these shanks.

Bob.....

....We are on the same page.

The bits in the Husky set are about as perfect for my home gunsmithing needs as they can be.

In my humble opinion there is an awful lot of junk out there that is being foisted upon us at high prices and with claims of quality which simply is not there.

I made some handles which were more to my liking and pressed the Husky bits into the shank.

Handles are from an oak shipping pallet. Shanks are from an old crib.

These drivers stay nice and tight and are easy on the hands and on the finish of the firearm.

Those are very nice drivers. Good length. I have always preferred a driver with the bit held by mechanical means instead of magnets. Small screws and other parts are a pain in the butt if they become magnetized by a driver handle.
