I have used 4166 in both 308 and 223. 308 shot very well for me with 168 gr bullets. Very consistent velocity and clean burning. In 223 with 77gr bullets it didnt give very good velocity but did give good groups. It was also very picky with charge weights normally i will see atleast a half grain window where at 100yds groups are still tight despite the variance in charge weight. Not with 4166 as little as .2 grains made a big diffrence. I always use the ocw method when working up loads and 4166 in 223 just didnt work well for me.

IMR 4451

I'm currently using 4451 in my 6.5-06, it's been a bright spot with Berger 130 grn Hunting VLD'S.
I'm doing some testing in 30-06, and will test .270 win when my rifle is finished.

havent got to use them yet, have a pound of 4451 and a pound of 7977. If you look on the Hodgdon reloading data online (Take Aim at Rifle Reloading), the 7977 looks to be a real winner in moderately overbore cartridges (in their advertising they say "the 7mm rem mag never had it so good!"). It shows top velocities for the 270 win with 150 and 140 grain bullets, it shows top velocities in .243 with 100-105 grain bullets, it shows very good velocities in the .300 win mag with all heavier bullets. I don't know about the other cartridges because those are the 3 I plan to use this powder in potentially. The 4451 is interesting too, but for now I'm more excited about 7977.

Interested in hearing about the results with 7977 in the 300 Win. I picked up 8 lbs but haven't tried it yet. Still have a good supply of R22 to burn up

1st tries with 4451 in the 257 Roberts and 30.06.
I haven't had a chance to do any more shooting than this so far.

I did get a couple pounds of 4955 but I haven't tried it yet.

I have the 4166 and 4451. I used he 4166 in my 243 but don't own it anymore. The imr 4451 is our go to powder for the 300 win short mag. About 6 grains less powder than 4350 and an extra 100 fps.

I have a Jug of IMR 4166 and shot a couple deer with it in October with 6.5-06 and 50.7 gr 120 gr 3200 fps
I shot a third deer with it in October with 300 Winmag 125 gr.
I am very happy with that powder.

I have a jug of IMR 4451 that I hope will work out with heavier bullets.

I haven't tried them yet, and I'm not sure I'm gonna...
Loading 243 Win with 100gr. Gamekings, and 105gr. Hornady Match using RL26.

For 7mm-08AI shooting 140gr. Berger VLD with Alliant Power Pro 2000 and getting ES of 6, and SD of 2...

Your not going to get me away from that very easily...
