Imr 700x???

Have found a stash of IMR 700X, approximately 15 -1 pound cans, price is $8.47 each. Is this a good buy, and since I am new to reloading, does anyone have pet loads for .38, .357 or .45 ??

i buy just about any powder i can get for less than 9 -10.00 per pound--just bought some Scot closeout powder from for 9.00 per lb...don't have any pet loads handy but if powder is cheap enough i will make some...700X is good for just about anything in the pistols and great for 12 ga shotgun...Dick

FYI-make sure that it isn't the 1/2 pound cans. IMR loves to package handgun/shotgun powders in those half full -8oz cans. I hate that. If that is the case, it's not that great of a deal. I like to pay around $14 per pound for can powder and $11 per pound for cannister surplus powder.

Favorite Loads

I agree with Poodleshooter Make sure that they are not the 1/2LB tins. the 1/2LB tins sell for $7.99 in my area.
Here are some very accurate 700X loads that I have worked up.

148Gr LWC Bullet 3.3 700X 1.280
158Gr Plated SWC 3.7 700X 1.140 (158Gr 3.8 is Max in the Speer's #13 manual)

357 Mag,

148Gr Plated WC 3.9Gr 1.420 700X Lee Crimp.
158Gr Plated SWC 5.0Gr 1.580 700X Lee Crimp

Here is IMR's reloading data.

IMR 700X

Small Town,
I have used 700X for over 20 years in all pistol calibers and 12 and 20 ga. shotgun. It has served me well and I do not hesitate to reccomend it. Try for it's many uses. Quantrill
