The CIA N PAP... Could you go wrong?

Bud's is selling it at under $500 so the price point looks good.

Personally, I don't want to drop $1400 on an Arsenal if I can avoid it.

Could you go wrong with the CIA N PAP?

Anyone have experience with this AK?

Depends on what you want really. I am no AK expert but I had handled my fair share of broken down WASR 10's. If you are just looking to scratch an AK itch or a range gun/ general plinker I am sure they are good to go, Zastava makes some pretty decent stuff.

If you want end of the world save your life 100% reliable, I would probably look for something nicer.

Different price points are between, you don't have to go with the most expensive, but you also dont have to go with the absolute cheapest as well.

I've had my Npap for a couple months, put a few hundred rounds down range with no hiccups. Some will tell you about cheek slap but I have not noticed this.

For the price of the N Paps, I think they're a steal. I got one a couple weeks ago I plan to try out tomorrow. I got the under folder. Fit and finish is great and I haven't read anything bad about them. I've had over 30 ak's and put the NPAP right at the top of the pile in similar quality to an old preban Polytech. I like the blued finish of the NPAP over the painted finish like Arsenal, but that's just me. The NPAP has a rugged sturdy feel that some of them lack. I don't think you'd go wrong with one.

One question that's been on my mind is what are the advantages
of an underfolder?

I have seen some photos of someone firing an AK pistol and they seemed to be all over the place.

I am concerned that the N Pap might be a problem with my somewhat short
arms as opposed to a Warsaw length stock.

Where did you buy the N Pap underfolder?

I found the underfolder at a gunshow for $600 a few months back. I tried it out over the weekend and it works just as it should. No formal target practice, but freehand 50+ yd group about 4" with about 2-seconds between shots. Overall, I like very much.

Only advantages to underfolder are cool factor, and a little better portability. I don't have any problems shooting them decent, but not nearly as comfortable as a real stock.

The N PAPS are set up for optic mounts, which means the stock angle is higher, which means if you plan to use only iron sights you have to scrunch down to line them up.

That results in the wood riding higher up on the cheek.
In my case, and with many others, that puts the stock right against the cheekbone & despite the low recoil, it is somewhat uncomfortable to shoot.

I had a visible bruise the next day after the first one I worked with, using irons.

The stock also doesn't attach normally, not a simple matter to replace if you want to.

well as of late CIA has "upped" their QC game, i'm happy with my CIA WASR10/63, so i would say go for the NPAP.
