Sig P229 DAK?

Anyone have one? My LGS has a 229 DAK police trade-in, looks to be in good shape, for $650. Not sure if that is a good deal, and if the DAK is any good. Seems like a SAO or DA/SA would be better for this gun than a constant long pull?

It's a .40 cal as well

SIG Sauer factory CPO service, Gray Guns....

If its in decent shape, the price seems right.
If you have any concerns, you can have the SIG gunsmiths do a factory rehab of the P229 DAK pistol for about $150.00 USD. They offer a 12mo warranty and go over the whole pistol.
New magazines, springs, sights(night sights) & maybe a new grip will get you in business.
Top pistolsmith Bruce Gray & Gray Guns are well known for SIG P-series work.

If its a R or Rail model, you can add a laser or white light too.

Seems a little high. They probably paid $350 on a trade in.

My brother has a DAK trigger and I have a DA/SA. I prefer the DA trigger. I'm not an expert shooter but I find it more difficult to fire quick consistent rounds with the DAK.

If that's just with one mag I think it might be a bit high. Does it have the original case, accessories, two mags, night sights, etc?
Know the status of your weapon
Keep your muzzle oriented so that no one will be hurt if the firearm discharges
Keep your finger off the trigger until you have an adequate sight picture
Maintain situational awareness

Prices vary all over the place have to decide if its a deal or not...based on what you see in your area !

DAK general, I hate it....

DA/SA trigger in a Sig is a much better option, in my opinion ......but you should own and shoot whatever you like - not what I like ...

A bit high, perhaps, but prices vary around the country -- that may not be HIGH for you market.

Be sure you like the trigger -- as the DAK is a love'm/hate'm proposition.

A friend had one and I loved the trigger on his; I picked one up and didn't care for the trigger on mine. They seem to vary a bit from gun-to-gun and model-to-model (228, 229, etc.)

Are you a revolver shooter? If so, you may like the DAK trigger. If you have other guns that you shoot often with safeties that go up, or down, decockers and other widgets, and are used to them, you may prefer that system.

The DAK is a point and shoot system. Since I am used to a Glock and revolvers, the DAK is a good fit for me. Back in the good old days, when I only carried a 1911, I would have preferred that.

From what I've seen, the DAK guns will take a big hit on value retained/trade in value. They are just not as highly in demand as the standard da/sa versions. I think they have overpriced this one....JMO
