.308 Galil, do they exist in the states?
So I was reading and being a typical nerd researching the history of various historical military rifles and came across something interesting.
Apparently, there was a civilian semi auto Galil chambered in 7.62x51, and was meant for export and sale in the US. I personally don't think I've ever seen one and I presume that's becuase they're quite rare (Kind of like the FN FNC) due to the ban on importation of military style firearms from foreign countries etc. Has anyone actually handled one of these rifles before, how do they hold up. I'll likely never be able to afford to buy one even if I did find one, but it certainly has me intrigued. Now, if I'm incorrect, please correct me, I've not been able to find a lot of information pertaining to this, so it could be that I've got invalid information in regards to this. |

I've got a .223 Galil but I've never seen a .308 based one. Could be interesting.

I remember seeing magazine articles about them, not sure I ever saw one in person.
Chuck Taylor wrote an article comparing it to an FN-FAL Paratrooper model. |

I have seen the Galil in .308 at a couple of gun shows with a price tag of like $5000. I can assure you that the FN-FNC exits because I owned one for 10 years before someone offered me an Ungodly amount of money and I sold it.

Mine shoots good and hits at two to 300 meters are easy to make,Bought mine back in 1985 never had any trouble with it uses 12 rd and 25 rd mags The one I have is the GAILIL ARM IN 308 nice looking and good shooting but my night sights do not glow much any more. They are still out there but 3000 to 5000 is about the price anymore. They also made a sniper model and a model with a shorter barrel the only problem I heard about was when IDF made one for S.A. role ,but far as I know both semi and the full auto (5.56) were tough as the AK-47.HOGSHOOTER

Old man had one. Sold it for 6k.
I shot it side by side with a fal. Honestly, the galil was fine, but the fal was the more comfortable and more accurate rifle. That being said, im ****** dad sold it.

I held one in a local shop. It was the older style in wood with the bipod. Wanted 3000 for it. I wasnt ready to pay that kind of cash. They are on gun broker a lot. I see them sell for 3500 to 4000, at least pre panic.
