Hahaha. That's funny. I was on set today for a show where the hosts are selling Thompson drums.

That's cool man! I just got through watching that. Awesome gun and in extremely good condition given its age. That wood was beautiful.

Ill just tell you what one of the personalities on the show told me.

The only thing real about reality tv, is its tv.

It was fun though.

How'd you like Jim Green? Looks like he had a ball shooting your tommy gun. I gotta swing by his shop tomorrow to pick something up, I'll ask him about it.

I liked Jim, he was a nice guy. He was very pleasant to talk too and very freindly. I found the younger guy to be rude. He started to disamble my gun without permission, incorrectly I might add, and then told me the info I was telling him about it was wrong, which it wasnt. He comes off as nice on the show though.

I shot that HK 51 shown on the opening sequence. Full auto 7.62x51 with a 2 inch barrel. It was a blast to shoot. You cant see anything because of the flash.

I was watching that episode and loved seeing that Tommy Gun - beautiful condition with nice drum and accessories. I was really tired and struggled to stay awake to watch the auction. My guess was that the ensemble would sell for just shy of $20,000......

BUT I DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE END!!!!

How much did that beauty fetch in the auction?

Oh, and FWIW, he would have been nuts not to accept that gun in his auction even if it couldn't fire. With AC556 parts sets going for close to $2,000, a broken Tommy Gun (receiver intact) would sell for only a bit of a discount to one that fires perfectly.

$16000

I almost bought one with a bulged barrel a few months ago for 11,000. I chickened out.

Oh, that is tempting!! Barrels are out there - wouldn't be 100% original, so hard to tell what the value would be.

Glad to see that you got $16,000 - it's a fair price, but the value of that set will be going for $20,000 soon enough. I would have been disappointed if it sold for 12,000 like he thought it would.

You can still find original barrels pretty easy. Hell, my buddy said that he knows a guy that has been shooting one with a buldged barrel for years, and hasnt caused any problems. I passed on some m2 side plates going for 12,000 also. I felt I wouldnt. be able to feed it. It gets scary when you realize your about to throw that kind of money at it.
