Front sight focus

I know this may be overly particular but...

Front sight focus should be on the center (dot) of the front sight or on the top edge of the sight?

Best results will be focusing on the front sight blade...particularly straight across the top and with equal gap on each side.

The dot is beneficial in high speed application but more difficult to gauge.

The human eye cannot focus on three different planes at the same time.
Above is based on the opinion of a 20 year Small Arms Marksmanship and Training Unit USAF instructor with more than 30 years in competitive shooting sports. Your mileage may vary.

I use the dots for most shooting. Once the range starts to open up, then I switch over to a more traditional sight picture. Most of my guns seem to shoot to the dot at the closer ranges anyway.
