I have a 226 Navy, and I never carry it. Too big, too heavy, too many levers and controls, (hammer, decock lever, take-down lever, intrusive slide release, etc). Sig website says the X-five is about 13 oz. even heavier than my Navy. Personally, ain't no way I'd ever carry something like that.

I carry a stainless steel P220 good no excellent in my opinion.
The p226 you are speaking of is a very dependable and great choice for carry.
The design of the p series pistol make them quit balanced and easy to conceal. I think you would love it. Is it 9mm or 40? I have a p220 equinox great guns.

I made a mistake somewhere....must have been too early in the morning. An Equinox is NOT 13 oz heavier than my 226 Navy. For some reason I had in my mind you were asking about the 226 X-Five.....sorry.

No reason why you can't carry it ...if you want to carry a double stack gun ...with a good holster that is properly fit for the gun and a good belt, its not a big deal.

Personally, I prefer a single stack gun for carry...over a Sig 226 ...especially IWB...but in a scabbard style holster OWB ...its not a big deal on a wide gun like that.

I have a couple of all stainless 226 models in 9mm and one in .40S&W...and they're too wide for me to carry especially getting in and out of a vehicle IWB is just too thick ( over a steel 5" 1911 ) ...and the 226's are on the heavy side..

While I like the Sig226 (it was our issue weapon at the time on the YPD), I think it's a bit too big for CC except during the cold months. My favorite is the Sig225 for CC especially during the warmer months. It's much easier to carry and conceal. Note that the P225 and P226 are essentially the same weapon except for magazine configuration.
