Hey all, I just invested in a new 6.5x55 Carl Gustav and a case of Fed Gold Medal 6.5x55 140 HPBT Match. The Fed stuff was for a great price so I figured I might as well buy it for the brass and for chronying.

Eventually I am going to start reloading my own so any suggestions? Are there any cheap FMJ bullets out there. All I have seen is hunting HP or SP and the Sierra match rounds. Should I just stick with Sierra moly packs of 500? What powder do you guys use for this round. I think I currently have some 4064 and Win 748. Thanks for your help.

Not the "normal" load these days, but...

For my 1917 Carl Gustaf, I've been using the Hornady 160gr Roundnose, which is as close to duplicating the original 158gr military bullet as I can get. I moly coat them, and run them on top of a comfortable load of AA4350 (now called XMR4350), and Remington brass. I don't have to worry too much about sight corrections, the bullet and load match the original sight range graduations. I "discovered" this load at a couple "Pre-45 military rifle" 500 meter silhouette matches, where guys with Swedish Mausers, K98 Mausers, M1917 US Enfields, 1903 Springfields, M1911 and K31 Schmidt-Rubins, No1 MkIII Enfields, and Mosin-Nagants all tried to knock over those metal silhouette animals at 500 meters. Those old war horses really shine out there, since most have a minimum battle zero of 300 meters, and even the 1903 Springfield had a battle zero of 500 meters (547 yards), per the tech manual.
