I just picked up an excellent used 686 revolver with 4" barrel, with both Pachmayr Gripper and Goncalo Alves grips. I'm buffing it now and am looking forward to shooting it soon.

I would appreciate knowing the date of manufacture. Please post manufacture date for S&W 686-2, Serial Number AZJ38xx.

Thanks in advance for your help.

m3bullet, my records show your S&W Model 686-2 was made sometime between January 1988 and October 1988. Hope this helps!

Steve,

Thanks again for your info. I remember you helping me out before with the manufacture date on my S&W Model 27 (1975-77). Ahhh, I just love those Pre-Cave-In Smith revolvers.
