Does anyone remember the "Alden's" catalogs?
It was in the early 60's before Kennedy was shot,,,
A mail order catalog where a kid like me could buy a military surplus rifle for 20-30 bucks. The reason I brought this up is because of the artillery posts I've seen here. One could order several anti-aircraft guns in 20 or 25 mm from Alden's,,, I remember that me and four of my buddies were saving our nickels and dimes so we could order a French 20 mm gun,,, It was only like 4 or 5 hundred dollars or so,,, Over a months pay for my Dad in 1962. That savings project got the kibosh when one of the Mom's found out about it,,, We each had saved some money though,,, I bought a British .303 instead. Ah nostalgia,,, Aarond |
