whats the best product to remove/prevent corrosion

My NEW remington 700 has a bit of rust on the barrel, because i left it in the case in my car for a few hours the other day when it was rather hot out. well i suppose because of the temp and humidity some moisture got on the barrel and then rusted,,, whats the best product out there to help me out, thanx

0000 steel wool soaked with WD 40 will remove any surface rust. Just scrub lightly.
