I'm starting down this road myself with my grandfather's Model 99.
The reloading manuals suggest using flat based bullets rather than boat tails as the short neck gives minimal surface to retain the bullet.
150 seems to be the typical bullet in factory ammo my grandfather used. (I have 4 factory boxes of empty cases that he kept as he used them up.)
