The bird pictured I almost certainly a Willet (nonbreeding male judging by coloration), not a plover or Snipe. Plovers have a much shorter beak. South Carolina has alot of Shore Birds with the "tell tell" long beak and skinny legs.

The snipe you'd want to hunt is the Wilson's Snipe
