Muzzleloaders and handguns have a larger diameter bullet, thus putting a bigger hole through the deer making expansion a moot point. I'm not sure if my bullets (water quenched wheel weights) will expand/deform unless I hit a bone. I assume they will just put a 30 cal hole through like a FMJ. I know a flat meplat would be better. Any thoughts?
IMHO I think your on the right track. I'm sure they'd work as would FMJ but a proper expanding bullet will probably make a cleaner (read faster) kill.
My own personal ethics meter would tell me getting close enough to make a clean headshot would be in order if I was gonna use a 30 cal non expanding bullet.
