Take a look at the Springfield XD 9mm or the equivalent S&W M&P 9mm and of course a Glock in 9. Be carefull, since many on the boards find the Glock grip angle to be unnatural and awkward. Personally, I couldn't be happier with my SA XD9. Modest recoil, reliable and accurate. And not expensive.
