I shoot the 162 AMAX from my 7-08, BC is .625..
The .308, 175 grain SMK is .505....like you said, you have to step up to the magnum "class" bullets- 210 grain with .645- to top the 7mm.

Good choice. Be sure you get a fast-twist barrel...
