I'm sure you have the high comb as yours and mine are about the same vintage. Look at the profile of your M/L and follow the tang as it comes back toward the butt end. You will see a hump as it comes up to the buttstock. If you can compare it to newer T.C. Hawkens, you will see that yours is higher and makes a sharp pronounced turn toward the rear. This heigth raises the top of the buttstock or the comb. Crap, I'm not doing this very well.
This time, take my word for it, you have a high comb and that is good. !!!
