Nothing wrong with a quick, unoffensive toot of the horn to wake someone up.
Standing at a light or stop sign, holding up traffic, is downright rude.
If they get riled at it, it's not your fault.
They're probably the kind of person who bullies everyone.
No telling when or where a guy like that will appear in one's life.
Be prepared to deal with them, when ever.
You did just fine, all's well than ends well.
