Shop for a variety of used guns.....( good older, high quality S&W revolvers...even a lot of N frames will be under $ 1,500 ), a lot of good used 1911's out there in that price range, a variety of Sig Sauer's ....
and make sure you have some fun doing it ...( buy what fits your hands -- not mine )....but I'd have to cry myself to sleep at nite, if I didn't have at least one well made 1911 in 9mm....or at least one well made, older now, S&W revolver in .357 mag - like model 19's, or 27's , or 28's or even model 66's or 686's....
